Branding
The Internet created a level playing field for all competitors and competitors need to differentiate themselves to win the customer.

"Branding" is the often subliminal process by which a business uses marketing strategies to get people to easily remember their products or services over a competitors' ... essentially, it's applied psychology.

Is branding an advertising method just used by the large corporations, like McDonalds, General Motors, Pepsi or Coke?  Absolutely not!  Branding techniques can easily be accomplished through a business or store name, logo or slogan.

Another method of branding is with your listings.  If you use consistent set up, formatting, titles, or words in your listings, then customers will be able to identify the listing to your Store very quickly when they see it again.

Bottom line.... you are in competition with thousands of other sellers, stand up and be noticed!

An example of our primary branding strategy is our store name and logo that we operate our online business and eBay Store under. Face it, our business name Katick Supplies is easily forgotten and often misspelled.  I put a lot of time into deciding on a name before we opened our eBay store.  Since I am not a very creative person, I actually held a contest (with a prize LOL) with my eBay pals to come up with a really unique and easy to remember name.  From the name I chose, A Well Dressed Bullet, which I immediately loved, designing our eye catching logo was easy!  I combined our catchy new store name with a bullet in a tuxedo!
branding example with logo
Although I use the product picture for our gallery images, and of course in our listing description, a couple of months ago, I actually came up with using our logo as the picture in all our listings, the one at the top left of the listing.  It’s the first thing they see at the start of our listing and the last thing they basically see at the end of the listing.

Be sure to include your logo, slogan or other branding technique in everything;
  • eBay Store
  • listings
  • website
  • emails
  • letters
  • business cards
  • invoices
  • newsletters
  • envelopes
  • packages
  • advertising, etc.
